10 WEIRD JAPANESE SNACKS
Snacks are my secret love obsession and I’m sure most of you watching would agree. But there is something about Japanese snacks that are bit on the edgy side. In the land of the rising sun, everything is done with a bit of strange weird genius including their snacks. In this video, we will cover ten weird Japanese snacks. So get ready to feel the munchies by the end of this video.
1. Horse meat Ice cream – Your probably wondering, is
this even possible? Well the Japanese are not horsing around when it comes to
wild trends and this is a real snack that is from Japan. Horsemeat ice cream
aka Basashi Aisu and is made from chunks of raw chunky horse meat that is mix
together with vanilla ice cream. It is
also served sashimi style too. Wonder if it tastes Horsey?
2.Spaghetti Popsicle – Pasta again for dinner? How
about frozen spaghetti popsicle for dessert instead? Without the meatballs of
course. Well thanks to a company called Akagi Nygyo who is known for producing
interesting flavors, you can mix up your pasta palette and eat it spaghetti as
a popsicle. So forget the sweet snack, go for a savory one!
3. Wasabi candy – If you thought wasabi was only to be served with Sushi then you are in for a spicy surprise. The Japanese love their wasabi so much that they have incorporate wasabi in a variety of candy ranging from Kit Kat Wasabi flavored Chocolates to these little wasabi candies. They are actually available on amazon if you want to have your taste buds go for a ride on the spicy side.
4. Beef tongue cider or (Gyutan saidā). –Nothing sounds more refreshing then a chilled beef tongue cider on a hot Japanese summer day?? This drink is considered to be more of a delicacy and found in a city in the north of Japan called Sendai. Sendai takes their local beef tongues seriously so don’t be surprised to find this drink sitting next to your favorite sodas at the local convenience store.
5. Multi
Wild flavor Doritos – There’s nothing like kicking back watching a movie
with a bag of Doritos but in Japan they like to mix it up a bit. How would you
like a spicy coconut curry flavored Doritos? Or how any of these unique weird flavors
such as sausage, steak, garlic, sesame chicken, Caesar salad, siricha and even
caramel flavored Doritos? -Or just combine
them all in a bowl at the same time and enjoy the explosion of favors!

6. Eel flavored soda – Want to wash down all those wild Doritos flavors you just had? Well the
Japanese has invented the perfect drink for the occasion. How about an eel
flavored soda. eel as in the fish of course. You heard rights, it is a frizzy
cold soda made from eel extract. Reportedly the eel soda taste like kabayaki
which is grilled eel marinated in soy sauce. Bottoms up!
7. Sasebo Burger
Drop – Sore throat this winter
season? Here, maybe a burger cough food drop may help soothe down your throat
with the refreshing taste of hamburger meat. This must be Japan’s way of paying homage to America
by honoring one of its all-time favorite foods, but in the way of a burger
drop. That’s one way to fix both a sore throat and a hamburger crave.
8. Giant Jellyfish caramel –what do you do with pesky giant jellyfish that keeps causing mayhem in
the ocean for fisherman? You turn them into caramel candy. It is said that
Japanese students proposed this idea and sealed the fate for these Nomura
jellyfish. The jellyfish is cooked and dried to form a powder. It is then mixed
with starch syrup and sugar. The taste has been said to be sweet and salty
without any fishiness. Bon Appetite.
9. Oreos – Who
doesn’t like Oreos and the Japanese would agree. That’s because in Japan they
take the flavors to whole another level. Some of these unique flavors include Sakura
Matcha, Peach Oolong, Lemon Ice, sour plum, green tea, candy corn, and even hot
chicken wings. Kick back with these wild flavor oreaos and enjoy it with a cup

10. Tomato Latte – Now this sound like the type of drink that Genius Tomato would be
proud of. It is a blend of tomatoes and milk with a bit of carrot to give a
sweet taste to the drink. But wait, on second though, that means fresh tomatoes
are used as there key ingredients?? Ok I think I am going to go hide for a
little.
