When many people hear of Japan, they instantly think of an intriguing country full of art, culinary, mystery, and exotic unique culture. The Japanese are known as trendsetters of some sorts paving the way for the world with eccentric creations ranging from anime, technology, video games, and many more wild things. This video will cover the 15 most interesting weird things that were created and most cases exist only in Japan.

Number 15 – Robot spouses – Who needs to meet a real human partner when you can have one that will meet all your needs as a partner, never age, take orders without back-talk, and just put the mute button when you need some peace a quiet. Plus, with a robot spouse there is no need to worry about divorce court!

 


Number 14 - Professional train squishers – can’t fit on the train during rush hour? No problem, your local friendly Japanese platform workers will give you a nice push. If one can’t do on his own, he can call his colleagues and you can have up to 3 to 4 pushers squish you until you fit. Talk about customer service!


Number 13 – High tech toilets that have automatic lids that open and close, heated seats, fresheners to take away embarrassment, and the trend setting bidet which gives your rump a nice wash after a toilet session. Sign me up! But that’s not all; you can also program your toilet seat to give you a nice little massage..



 

Number 12 – Sleeping on the job. In the west, getting caught sleeping on the job can get you fired but in Japan, it might get you a promotion. Clever Japanese bosses are realizing that naps during the day can help exhausted workers to recharge themselves to increase productivity. They even provide workplace sleeping chairs - light outs everyone!

 


Number 11 – Boyfriend experience by the hour. Modern times in Japan have seen more women enter the workforce and turning away from the traditional marriage and relationships. Single women can get their needs met with a a-la carte boyfriends can be rented by the hour for services such as offering a crying shoulder, grabbing drinks, cooking dinner, and cuddles.

 


Number 10 – Cuddles CafĂ© – is a co-sleeping specialty shop. Ditch your teddy bear while sleeping, in Japan you can rent a random stranger for cuddles - all for a fee. Strange services are offered ranging from 20 min naps, to a girl patting you on the head, or a girl sleeping on the customer’s lap! Before you let your mind go wild, there is no funny business here. Number 9  Hentai – is Xrated manga. Japanese culture is all for fulfilling wild fantasies and desires and watching anime characters get it on, can be someone’s Saturday night entertainment. I got to give it to them, while western comic book characters are angry and always fighting, the Japanese anime characters are all about spreading that love.

 


Number 8 – Fish Pedicure – is A very unique invention in spas around Tokyo– instead of the Japanese people eating fish for a change, the tables have been reversed . The fish pedicure has toothless little fish nibbling at the soles of your feet while using their tiny lips to suck the dead skin off your feet while stimulating acupuncture points. Hold onto your seats, because this might get ticklish 



Number 7 – Ramen Isolation booths – This is perfect for those who like to get their pig on without looking like a slob in an enclosed private ramen booth. First fill out an order form then press the call button for the server. The ramen is served through a small opening in front of the booth and then a curtain is drawn for maximum isolation. The salty ramen is making you thirsty? No problem, hand them your water card and they will fill your water up for you. No talk is necessary

Number 6 – Nyotaimori is another wild creation that was created in Japan is eating sushi off a the body of an undressed woman. guess eating off a plate can get boring quickly so talk about a way to spice up the dining experience. As wild as it sounds, eating sushi off a unclothed hwoman’s body is a Japanese tradition that dates back to the 1600’s. Don’t worry; the sushi is placed on top of leaves so it doesn’t come in contact with the model’s skin in case you’re worried about hygiene.

 


Number 5 - Robot Hotel – In Japan, the raptors don’t try to eat you, instead they can check you into your room at Henn-na Hotel – which translates to strange hotel. This impressive futuristic hotel is in the city of Nagaski and is staffed by impressive multi-lingual robots that can talk to you and carry your luggage. The face recognition scanner which allows entry to your room is also an extra perk. Gone are the days of forgetting where you put your key cards!

 


Number 4 – Ramen noodle bath – The Japanese love ramen so much that they even created an  more wild eccentric way to enjoy it. You can bathe in Ramen at the Yunnessan Spa House in Hakone, a south eastern town in Japan. Customers can bathe in ramen pork broth and synthetic noodles and really soak in the savory taste. This bath is claimed to help improve the skin of the bather as the pork broth is full of collagens. As tempting as it is, don’t take sip in the bath!

 


Number 3 - Canned food restaurant – Who says canned food was only meant to be eaten at home or on the go? In Japan, there is a popular canned food restaurant chain called Mr Kanso where you can choose from a variety of interesting canned foods to dine at the restaurant. The cans are displayed on shelves and can get real weird with choices such as Hakkiado bear meat, seal, and walrus among others. The cans are organized with color coded price stickers that can range from 200 to a whopping 20,000 yen. That is some gourmet can food!

 


Number 2 - Only in Japan would there be a festival of trying to get a baby to cry instead of trying to stop them from crying! This annual festival involves two opposing babies to be held in the arms of sumo wrestlers and the first baby to cry would be declared the winner! Japanese tradition believes that babies that cry have the power to ward off evil sprits and the ones that cry the loudest will grow up strong and healthy I guess it pays to be a crybaby in Japan?



Number 1 - Foot baths for tourists on sightseeing trains – Not all trains in Japan are  hectic and stressful. Some trains you can kick back and relax, literally with a food bath.  Kine-tetsu Railway Co offers foot baths for travelers on the Tsudoi Sightseeing Train between stops. The foot baths are filled with hot spring water from the Mie Komono Onsen hot spring. Tourists can kick back and enjoy the view and get their feet ready for a long walk!
